Club Dives - Scuba
Our free Dive Club events are intended to help scuba divers get out and dive! A divemaster will be present at Whytecliff Park to help Dive Club members plan their dives, aid with gear, provide post-dive hot/cold drinks and snacks, and answer any questions you might have! Pre-registration is required. Please note, this is not a guided dive. You will be diving with other certified diver buddies, and are ultimately responsible for safely planning and executing dives within your certification limits. After your dive, enjoy a hot drink, look through the fish ID books and chat with other divers about what you saw! Please bring a reusable mug for your hot drink.
Dive Buddies
No Buddy? No problem! Divers are welcome to come with a buddy team, or as singles. The divemaster will pair you up with another diver. It’s a great way to meet new people in the area who are also passionate about diving!
Equipment
Diving Sports can provide all the necessary gear for rent, except a mask and snorkel. Rental equipment is limited, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you would like to rent a drysuit for your dive, you must have a Drysuit Specialty certification. As these are unguided dives, a drysuit “upgrade” is not sufficient for using a rental drysuit unsupervised.
As these are unguided dives, each diver must have their own computer and whistle. For the night dives, a dive computer and 2 dive lights per diver is mandatory (1 primary & 1 backup). A marker light is also highly recommended.
We do have a limited number of dive computers and lights available to rent, and these will also be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
We offer 1 free rental tank for divers participating in the Club Dives, or 1 free air fill for those who have their own tank. If you would like to upgrade to a nitrox tank, we offer nitrox upgrades for an extra $5
Transportation
Currently we are not able to offer transport of equipment or divers to the dive site. We ask that all divers meet us at Whytecliff Park. Potentially carpooling can be organized amongst dive club members through the Whatsapp group. Divers requiring rental gear must come by the shop and pick up their equipment.
Medical & Waiver Form
Prior to signing up, we encourage everyone to look over the Diver Medical Form to make sure they will be cleared to dive.
Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment
At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our divers (Scuba and Freedivers) receive the best possible experience while maintaining a high standard for safety, both for the divers, the guide, and the environment we are visiting. Our dive guides have many years of experience diving locally in cold water. All Dive guides are trained in first aid and oxygen delivery. First Aid kits and DAN Oxygen Kits are present on all trips and courses. Dive sites or dive plans may be changed due to weather conditions or experience level of the group, as well as anyone not adhering to proper dive practices will politely be asked to adapt to better interact with the underwater environment.
