Why train with us?

  • Low student to instructor ratios : 3 or 4 students per instructor both in the pool and ocean

  • Our retail store is located downtown.

  • Diving courses available all year-round. Private courses available.

  • We teach children 10 years and older.

  • Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.

Our Technical Training Mindset :

Our first and foremost goal is to create competent, safe, and knowledgeable divers who are truly capable of independently diving with a similarly-certified buddy, without the supervision or help of a guide.

We are generally very successful, and our alumni regularly dive together. However, understanding that to achieve this level of proficiency requires a huge amount of work, both on the part of the student and that of the instructor.

Our courses are charged per a day of training, and students earn a certification when the instructor feels they have fulfilled TDI/SDI standards and those of Diving Sports standards. The number of days listed for the courses below are bare minimums, assuming the student does everything right the first time. It's always good to plan on leaving time for an extra day or two on your course.

What is Included in the Course :

Diving Sports includes the price of tuition, the scheduled class dates and 3 days of diving (2 dives each day), and certification fees. Students are responsible for their own equipment and enriched gas fills. Manuals, eLearning, or both will be added on afterwards depending on student preference.

Equipment Requirements :

Students are required to be proficient diving with 2 Primary cylinders, either backmounted doubles or sidemount, before the start of the course. Students will be required to have appropriate cylinders for decompression mixes with oxygen cleaned regulators. All Advanced Wreck Divers are required to dive with 50%-100% decompression mixes.

Maximum Depth of Training for the Advanced Wreck Course will be:
45m/150ft
All wreck dives will take place in/on one or more of our local wrecks. All dives will be boat dives.
Boat charter costs are extra as price varies on each charter and which wrecks we will be diving.

Who is this course for?

Advanced Wreck Diver is a challenging and fulfilling course. It is about finding your personal best as a diver. We personally believe this course strengthens people as divers. If there is one course that students continue to talk about long after the course is over, it is the Advanced/Technical Wreck Diver Course.

The course aims provide the knowledge and experience divers need to conduct advanced wreck dives with confidence and with a higher level of safety. This course goes beyond the entry level SDI Wreck course and teaches you how to properly plan exploratory wreck dives using line for navigation, extra cylinders for safety and decompression, and safety drills in case of emergency.

What You Will Learn:

Topics covered include the dangers of the overhead environment, buoyancy control, equipment configuration with a high emphasis on equipment streamlining, awareness in an overhead environment, different finning techniques and multi cylinder gas management for long wreck penetrations.

The diving portion consists of a number of confined-water skills work-up dives. These dives establish the students' buoyancy, trim, configuration and comfort of their equipment. This will lead to the students second set of dives aimed at helping to achieve proficiency in completing a number of timed task-loading skills while on or in the wreck

Course Description:

  • The Advanced Wreck Course consists of 2 days of class before any ocean training is completed.
  • There is a final exam at the end of the classroom sessions. you have the option of learning through eLearning, physical manual, or both.
  • You will then spend 3 days minimum boat diving practicing and learning wreck penetration skills.

  • Course Prerequisites:

  • All students must have prior decompression training and experience in either backmount (doubles) or sidemount configuration.
  • All students must have more than 100 dives.
  • All divers must have a minimum of 30 dives in cold water, in a drysuit.

  • Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment

At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our students receive the highest quality instruction and customer service. We are in the business of training, mentoring, and supporting students to become safe, skillful and confident divers. We begin by scheduling our courses with the number of classes it typically takes most students to master the knowledge and skills, then adapt and tailor our schedule to fit our individual student’s needs. Our instructors are open and honest about your progress during each part of the course. Students may need to schedule additional pool or ocean training dives prior to certification. This ensures our students complete their courses with all the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and enjoy their future dives and courses. When you take a course with Diving Sports, you are welcomed into a passionate and inclusive community of divers eager to support your diving journey well beyond the duration of your class.
