Course & Trip Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy

At Diving Sports Canada, we understand that plans can change. The following policy explains the rules for cancelling or rescheduling scuba diving and freediving courses and dive trips. These policies help us coordinate instructors, pool facilities, dive sites, and charter operators.

Course Rescheduling Before the Start Date

  • You may reschedule your entire course up to 2 weeks before the course start date without penalty.
  • If you reschedule less than 2 weeks before the course start date, the following rescheduling fees apply:
    • $250 – PADI Open Water Diver, Open Water Referral, and Freediving Courses
    • $50 – Discover Scuba Diving
    • $200 – All other scuba courses

Courses Booked Less Than 2 Weeks Before Start

If a course is booked less than two weeks before the start date, customers have a 24-hour window after booking to cancel or reschedule the course without penalty.

eLearning Refund Policy

If you cancel a course more than 2 weeks before the start date but have already started the provided eLearning, the eLearning portion is non-refundable.

  • The eLearning fee is $180 per course.
  • Discover Scuba Diving includes free eLearning.

Rescheduling After the Course Has Started

If a course session has already started and needs to be rescheduled, the following fees apply:

  • $50 for each pool session rescheduled
  • $100 for each ocean dive rescheduled
  • If a pool session is linked to a following ocean session, rescheduling the pool session will still require payment for both sessions.

Dive Trip Cancellation & Rescheduling

Local Dive Trips

Local dive trips may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 2 weeks prior to the excursion without penalty.

If the booking was made within two weeks of the trip, customers have 24 hours after booking to cancel or reschedule without penalty.

  • Last-minute cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $80 fee.

Local trips are defined as dive excursions within the Greater Vancouver area where no ferry, boat charter, or border crossing is involved.

Non-Local Dive Trips

Non-local day trips and boat charter dives may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 3 weeks prior to the excursion without penalty.

If the booking was made within two weeks of the trip, customers have 24 hours to cancel or reschedule without penalty.

  • Late cancellations or rescheduling will incur a $150 fee.

Non-local multi-day trips may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 30 days before departure.

  • Cancellations within 30 days will result in a charge of 80% of the trip price.

Non-local trips include excursions where a ferry service is used (such as Vancouver Island), a third-party charter operator is involved, or provincial/international borders are crossed.

International Dive Getaway Trips

International dive trips may be cancelled up to 3 months prior to departure. The non-refundable deposit will be forfeited.

Full payment is required 2 months before the trip departure date. Failure to complete payment may result in loss of the reserved spot.

  • Cancellations made less than 3 months before the trip will result in the full trip cost being forfeited.

International dive trips are defined as trips requiring international travel and extensive logistics.

Diver Substitution

Customers who need to cancel a dive trip may find another qualified diver to take their spot.

Any financial exchange for the substitution must occur directly between the divers. Diving Sports Canada and any charter operators are not responsible for handling payments between customers.
